One Week Down!

I cannot believe it has already been over one week that my group has been in Morocco! I have already learned so much about the history, culture, and language during my time here that I can only imagine the knowledge I will have obtained by the end of the trip! I have been requested to add any and all pictures I have taken (and believe me there are plenty) of the places I have visited. Inshallah I will have them published in the next couple of days. My first week of classes has been extremely challenging. The language I once thought I had a grasp of has proven to be far more complex and beautiful than I could have ever imagined. I have two classes every day with two different professors that correlate their lessons with one another. They are instructed in 100% Arabic which, I found, is the best way to learn. After I finish at 1 pm I return home to my amazing host family and await iftar. I will also be posting about the wide variety of foods that have been prepared for us by our host m

And So It Begins...

The trip we have all been waiting for is finally underway! After anxiously awaiting the day, on May 20th, 2018 I boarded a plane to Fez Morocco. My emotions are overwhelming ranging from excitement, curiosity and even fear. I have heard both positive and negative experiences and memories from those that have gone on the trip prior that it made me anxious to create experiences of my own. I had expectations that there would be many familiar mannerisms and traditions as I have previously experienced in Egypt, but I still had a lot to learn. Traveling during the holy month of Ramadan also is a unique experience that will enhance my first trip to Morocco. I always loved seeing all Muslims come together during this month to break fast and give thanks. The first day after arriving in Casablanca, my group endured an additional four hour trip to Fez Morocco where we will be staying.
