Back in the U S of A and already missing Morocco

        Hello my loyal readers, this is my final blog post about my study abroad experience in Fes Morocco, and if any of you are just joining us feel free to read any of my seven other posts about the different places I visited. This post serves the purpose of summing up my experience with a little self reflection and sharing my experiences in my final days in Fes. Having spent most of my days in Fes, it became easy to navigate and explore the city. I have gotten lost and happened upon gardens hidden in a labyrinth of shops in the old Medina, gotten in fights with cabs over cab fare, gone to concerts on the main street, ate the most random foods and drinks from street vendors, and drank an unspeakable amount of tea with mint. The most positive experience I had was definitely with my host family. It is difficult to understand how you can become so close to a family despite all language and cultural barriers. Chefchaouen, The Blue City

The following pictures are taken from in the beautiful city of Chefchaouen which is smack dab in the middle of the mountains in northwest morocco. This small city is where the Bloom Crew decided to spend our Friday evening and Saturday morning of this past weekend. The four hour drive was well worth it to see the city filled with blue walls, stairs, buildings, streets, and anything else you can think of. Hidden between these buildings were thin cobbled paths filled with quaint stores (where I over indulged), restaurants, and coffee shops. But what came as the biggest shock was definitely the fact that the entire city was uphill, it felt as if I had never left Bloomsburg. We shacked up in a tastefully decorated hotel before heading to Asilah Saturday afternoon. My favorite part of Chefchaouen was the wide range of things we found! And So It Begins...

The trip we have all been waiting for is finally underway! After anxiously awaiting the day, on May 20th, 2018 I boarded a plane to Fez Morocco. My emotions are overwhelming ranging from excitement, curiosity and even fear. I have heard both positive and negative experiences and memories from those that have gone on the trip prior that it made me anxious to create experiences of my own. I had expectations that there would be many familiar mannerisms and traditions as I have previously experienced in Egypt, but I still had a lot to learn. Traveling during the holy month of Ramadan also is a unique experience that will enhance my first trip to Morocco. I always loved seeing all Muslims come together during this month to break fast and give thanks. The first day after arriving in Casablanca, my group endured an additional four hour trip to Fez Morocco where we will be staying.
