aSEAlah
As promised, here is my late night post about our beach trip this past Saturday and Sunday. Don't worry, there are more pictures at the bottom! Asilah is a small town two and a half hours from Chefchaouen that holds both historical and artistic significance in Morocco. The town is surrounded by 15th century ramparts and gates that are well preserved by the residence. Not only is it known for its architectural Portuguese influence, but also the presence of beautiful abstract murals throughout the town. It being a smaller city allowed the group to enjoy a quiet, uninterrupted two days of exploring and relaxing. The only bummer was the frigid Atlantic ocean which may have prevented us from swimming but not from taking some bomb sunset pictures. But, unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and on Sunday we had to make the 4 hour hike back to Fes for classes the next day. This was our last organized trip believe it or not! (not including our trek back to the states). Now all that is remaining is the Muslim holiday Eid and a week and half more of classes!
Now for those keeping track you may wonder
"Ok Amel, we read about two trips you took, awesome, but what else have you accomplished the other 4 weeks you have been abroad?"
And that is a great question! I still have two trips to show you guys, the overnight camping in the Sahara desert, Ancient ruins of Meknes, and all my adventures in Fes. So I will TRY my hardest to get all this fun packed into this blog before my return to America on June 24th. Thanks for tuning in! Expect more from me later this week, Eid Mubarak
