Chefchaouen, The Blue City
The following pictures are taken from in the beautiful city of Chefchaouen which is smack dab in the middle of the mountains in northwest morocco. This small city is where the Bloom Crew decided to spend our Friday evening and Saturday morning of this past weekend. The four hour drive was well worth it to see the city filled with blue walls, stairs, buildings, streets, and anything else you can think of. Hidden between these buildings were thin cobbled paths filled with quaint stores (where I over indulged), restaurants, and coffee shops. But what came as the biggest shock was definitely the fact that the entire city was uphill, it felt as if I had never left Bloomsburg. We shacked up in a tastefully decorated hotel before heading to Asilah Saturday afternoon.
My favorite part of Chefchaouen was the wide range of things we found! One store would have leather purses and handbags when the next store was selling blankets and carpets. Needless to say our group got plenty of practice with our arabic numbers and the phrases 'expensive' and 'too much' after tirelessly attempting to bargain our foreigner prices down. Enjoy the pictures and tune in tomorrow for more about this past weekend and our only trip to a Moroccan beach!
